Instead of a list of specifications: situations from life. In each one you will find what to focus on and which questions to ask.
Work with many conversations
An open-plan office, dealing with the public, meetings. In these situations the main question is noise and how many people are speaking. It is worth looking at the higher levels in the series: HearLink 9050 usually suits people who spend a lot of time in complex, noisy settings, and HearLink 7050 an active lifestyle with frequent social gatherings. If there are many phone calls, check the connection to your phone. Compatibility depends on the phone model and the hearing aid model.
An active social life
Family meals, meeting friends, classes. Here it is worth thinking about frequency: once a month, or several times a week? The more frequent the noisy gatherings, the more it is worth considering a higher level. When the speaker is far away or the noise is loud, there is also an accessory: AudioClip is a remote microphone for conversations in noise and at a distance.
Mostly at home, with the TV
Someone who spends most of the day at home, in one-to-one conversations and in front of the TV, is in a relatively quiet setting. The difference between the levels is smaller here, so it is worth also looking at HearLink 5050 and HearLink 3050. For the TV there is a dedicated accessory: according to Philips, the TV Adapter sends the TV sound straight to the hearing aids.
A first hearing aid
Anyone starting with a hearing aid goes through a period of getting used to it, and that is natural. 3050 usually suits relatively quiet settings and people starting with a hearing aid. But "first" does not mean "low level": if the routine includes a lot of noise, it is worth looking at other levels too. In the first period, repeated adjustments are especially important.
Finding small parts difficult to handle
A rechargeable hearing aid has no small batteries to change: you place the hearing aids in the charger, and according to Philips charging in the desktop charger starts automatically. At the appointment, practise putting the hearing aids into the charger and taking them out, and changing a dome.
The style: miniRITE R or miniBTE R
In each of these situations there is also a decision about the style. In miniRITE R the speaker is inside the canal. In miniBTE R the sound travels through a tube or a hook. The professional chooses based on the hearing test and the shape of the ear.

Frequently asked questions
Questions and answers
Does Philips HearLink suit every type of hearing loss?
The fit is decided by a hearing test and according to the manufacturer's guidelines. The series has different styles, speakers and parts, and the professional chooses between them based on the results. There is no single general answer for every person.
I work in an open-plan office. What should I focus on?
Noise and how many people are speaking. It is worth looking at the higher levels in the series, 9050 and 7050, and checking the connection to your phone if there are many calls. The decision is made after a hearing test.
Does HearLink suit someone who does not use a smartphone?
Yes. The hearing aids can be used without an app. The phone connection is an option, not a requirement.
What if I find small parts hard to handle?
A rechargeable hearing aid has no small batteries to change: you place the hearing aids in the charger. At the appointment, practise putting them into the charger and taking them out, and changing a dome.
