From the test, through adjustment, to follow-up visits

Philips HearLink fitting and follow-up

In short: The fitting starts with a hearing test and a conversation about your routine. Then the level and style, the speaker and dome or tube are chosen, the hearing aid is adjusted, and it is paired with your phone if you wish. After a first period of use you come back for an adjustment, when it is already clear what is comfortable and what is not. At G-Sound you can arrange a hearing test at home nationwide, by appointment.

A good hearing aid needs the right adjustment. Here is what the process looks like at G-Sound, from the first conversation to the adjustments after the first period of use.

The stages of the fitting

Conversation and hearing test

What you find hard to hear, where, and for how long. The test is the basis for every decision that follows.

Choosing the level and style

9050, 7050, 5050 or 3050, and miniRITE R or miniBTE R. See how to choose.

Parts and adjustment

Speaker and dome, or tube or hook, based on the test and the shape of the ear. Then the hearing aid is adjusted.

Pairing and guidance

Connecting to the phone and the app, and an explanation of charging, cleaning and daily use. Guide: the button on Philips HearLink.

Parts chosen at the fitting

According to Philips documents, the miniRITE style uses miniFit Detect speakers in several power levels, and several types of dome, including OpenBass, Bass and Power, as well as the Grip Tip. On the miniBTE R style, according to Philips documents, the sound travels through a hook or a thin tube. The type of part, the length and the size are chosen by a professional, not by self-selection. The first weeks

Many people discover sounds they had forgotten in the first weeks: rustling paper, footsteps, the fridge. This is part of getting used to it. Note what bothers you and what works, in which places and at what times, and bring the list to the follow-up visit. A general guide: the first weeks with new hearing aids.

Follow-up visits and adjustments

  • After a first period of use: an adjustment based on what you have learned about yourself.
  • Periodic checks: that the hearing aid is clean, working and adjusted.
  • When your routine changes: a new job, more events, a new phone.
  • When something feels different: before deciding it is a fault.

More: follow-up adjustments.

Frequently asked questions

Questions and answers

How long does it take to get used to a hearing aid?

It varies from person to person. That is why it is worth arranging a follow-up visit after a first period of use, and bringing a list of what works and what bothers you.

Can the fitting be done at home?

At G-Sound you can arrange a hearing test at home nationwide, by appointment. For the fitting: contact us, describe what you need, and we arrange the right way to receive the service, depending on the type of service, the location and the case.

Can I choose the speaker or the dome myself?

No. The type of speaker, its length, and the type and size of dome are chosen at a professional fitting, based on the hearing test and the shape of the ear.

Why do I need to come back for an adjustment?

Because only after use in your real routine is it clear what is comfortable and what is not. The adjustment updates the hearing aid based on what you have learned about yourself.

Please do not send sensitive medical information in a message. We go over the relevant details on the phone.
