Oticon at G-Sound
G-Sound is an authorized marketer of Oticon hearing aids. On our site Philips HearLink comes first and Oticon second, but both are part of the same personal conversation: we start with your hearing and your routine, and only then look at families and styles. If you are comparing the two brands, our guide Philips or Oticon: how to choose explains why there is no winner in general.
The descriptions below are summarised from Oticon’s own product pages, listed under Sources. This is not a complete list of Oticon families, and model details and availability are confirmed individually.
Oticon families at a glance
Oticon Intent
Listed in miniRITE and miniBTE R styles. Oticon describes the miniRITE as rechargeable, working with tele loop systems, with Bluetooth streaming and hands-free calls.
Oticon Real
Listed in miniRITE R, miniRITE T, miniBTE R and miniBTE T styles. Oticon lists the R models as rechargeable.
Oticon Own
Custom styles made to the shape of the ear, from very small styles deep in the canal to full-shell styles.
Oticon Xceed
Behind-the-ear hearing aids that Oticon lists in Super Power and Ultra Power styles.
Oticon CROS
A transmitter that picks up sound on the side with no usable hearing and sends it to a hearing aid on the better ear.
Oticon also lists Oticon Verit in miniRITE T, miniBTE T 85 and BTE T 105 styles, using replaceable, non-rechargeable batteries. Some people prefer batteries they can change themselves, for example when travelling or when charging every night is not practical.
Rechargeable or replaceable batteries
Oticon offers both. Families such as Real list rechargeable R models, while Verit uses disposable batteries. Neither is better for everyone: think about your hands and eyesight, your daily routine, and whether someone helps you at home. Our guides on rechargeable hearing aids and hearing aid batteries go through the trade-offs.
Phones, TV and accessories
Oticon describes Bluetooth streaming and hands-free calls for several families. For Real, Oticon lists hands-free calls with iPhone, iPad and Mac, and streaming from selected Android devices. The Oticon Companion app is listed for several families, including Own and Real.
Accessories Oticon lists include ConnectClip, which turns its hearing aids into a wireless headset and remote microphone, the TV Adapter 3.0, the Remote Control 3.0, EduMic and chargers. Not every accessory works with every family and generation, so compatibility is checked against your model first. See accessories and connectivity.
Hearing in only one ear
When one ear has no usable hearing, sound from that side can be hard to follow, for example a person sitting on your poorer side at dinner. Oticon describes its CROS solutions as a transmitter on the poorer side that sends sound to a hearing aid on the better ear. Oticon lists a CROS miniRITE T transmitter with a disposable battery and a CROS PX miniRITE R transmitter with a rechargeable battery. Whether CROS is appropriate is a question for a full hearing assessment.
Already wearing Oticon?
Many English speakers in Israel arrive with Oticon hearing aids from the US, the UK, Canada, South Africa or Australia. If that is you, call first with the exact family and style name, which is usually printed on the device or in the box. We will tell you what we can help with for that model. Background is in hearing aids bought abroad and making aliyah with hearing aids.
How the choice is made
The family, style and level follow a current hearing assessment and the situations that matter to you: conversation in noise, television, phone calls, meetings or synagogue. Fitting and follow-up adjustments matter as much as the device itself. Read hearing aid technology levels before you compare options, and see Philips HearLink hearing aids for the brand we present first.
