A rechargeable style that sits behind the ear, with a speaker inside the canal. Offered in all four HearLink levels.
How the style is built
In the miniRITE R style the body of the hearing aid sits behind the ear, and a thin wire connects it to a speaker inside the ear canal. At the end of the speaker there is a soft dome, or a custom earpiece, that holds it in place. This split allows a relatively small body behind the ear.
On the Philips website the style appears as HearLink 50 miniRITE. At G-Sound we present it as miniRITE R, to make clear that it is a rechargeable style.
Speakers and domes
In Philips HearLink 50 the speakers are miniFit Detect speakers, according to Philips. According to the Philips documents for the style, there are speakers in three power levels: 60, 85 and 100. The power and length are chosen at the fitting, not by self-selection.
The dome is also chosen at the fitting. According to Philips documents there are several types, including OpenBass, Bass and the Power dome. The type and size of dome affect comfort and how the sound feels, so they are part of the professional fitting. Domes and filters are replaced from time to time: see the guide care and cleaning.
Charging
miniRITE R is rechargeable. According to Philips it has two dedicated chargers: a desktop charger (Charger miniRITE) and a portable charger (Charger Plus miniRITE). Each style has its own charger, so make sure the charger you have fits miniRITE. More in the guide charging HearLink.
How small the style is
According to the Philips HearLink 50 miniRITE product page (checked 26.10.2026), the hearing aid is 2.8 cm long and 0.8 cm wide. On the Philips website this is the style shown here as miniRITE R. Most of the body sits behind the ear, and from the side you mainly see the thin speaker wire. Visibility in practice also depends on hair, glasses and the position of the wire. More in the guide how visible HearLink is on the ear.
Who miniRITE R usually suits
The choice between miniRITE R and miniBTE R is made by a professional, based on the hearing test, the shape of the ear and personal preferences. Some questions that usually come up in the conversation:
- Is a relatively small body behind the ear important to you?
- Are you comfortable handling a small dome and filter?
- Do you have sensitivity in the ear canal that affects the choice of the part inside it?
- Do you wear glasses, and how does the hearing aid sit next to them?

Level and style: two separate decisions
The style determines how the hearing aid sits on the ear. The level, 9050, 7050, 5050 or 3050, determines the technology level of the sound processing. Each level is offered in both styles, so you can choose the combination that suits you. Help choosing the level: how to choose between HearLink levels.
