Philips HearLink 2 app: installing, first connection and what to check when something does not work

HearLink 2 is the app Philips lists for both styles of HearLink 50. This guide covers what to check before installing, how to install and connect the first time, and what to do when the app does not see the hearing aids.

In short: according to Philips documents, the HearLink 2 app is listed for both miniRITE R and miniBTE R. Before installing, make sure the hearing aids are charged and check that your phone is compatible: against the manufacturer's guide or with us on 055-3333338. Then download the app from the app store, pair the hearing aids and check that both appear. Which functions are available in the app, and which phone versions it works with, changes over time, so the details follow the manufacturer's guide.

Step 1: download HearLink 2

Open the app store on your phone and search for HearLink 2. Make sure it is the Philips app and not another app with a similar name. If a Philips app from a previous hearing aid is still on your phone, do not assume it is the right one: according to Philips documents, HearLink 2 is the app listed for HearLink 50. Moving from an older model? There is a separate page about it: Upgrading from an older Philips hearing aid.

Step 2: pair the hearing aids with the phone

The pairing order follows the manufacturer's guide. A few things help in any case:

  • Pair in a quiet place, with the phone close to the hearing aids.
  • If the hearing aids were paired with a previous phone, switch off Bluetooth on that phone or remove them from it, so it does not connect to them.
  • Both hearing aids should appear. If only one appears, stop and check before you continue.
  • Do not delete and re-pair again and again. If two attempts did not work, it is better to contact us.

Step 3: open the app and get to know it

The settings made at the fitting are the starting point. Which functions are available to you in the app depends on the app version and on what was set at the fitting; the details are in the manufacturer's guide. At the end of the fitting, ask for a short demonstration of the app on your own phone, and write down what each screen you need does. What Philips states about HearLink 50 connectivity is on the page Philips HearLink: app, Bluetooth and phone.

When a family member helps

Often the person who installs the app is a family member. That is fine, but it is worth doing it together, with the phone that will actually be used and with the hearing aid user present. That way the user knows the screens and does not depend on someone else for every change. More guides: Philips HearLink for caregivers and family members · For families and caregivers (in Hebrew).
