How do you choose earplugs?
- For what use? Sleep, swimming, noise, music or work. Each use has different requirements.
- For how long and how often? For occasional use a ready-made earplug may be enough. For regular use it is worth looking into an earplug made to measure.
- What do you need to hear at the same time? An alarm clock, people, a band or signals. Tell us, because we do not promise what you will hear with the earplug. For music, RNID describes earplugs with a filter that lower the loudness without muffling the sound.
- What do you expect to hear? An earplug reduces noise, but does not make it disappear completely. Earplugs for complete quiet: what to expect
- What bothered you about previous earplugs? An earplug that moves, falls out, presses or itches.
When is it worth choosing a custom earplug?
- You use an earplug almost every day or every night.
- Ready-made earplugs come out of your ears, move or press.
- You sleep on your side, or need an earplug that sits inside the ear.
- You prefer one earplug for repeated use, kept in a case, rather than buying again and again.

How to use earplugs without harming the ear
- Clean hands before inserting and removing. CDC/NIOSH recommend this too in their instructions for inserting foam earplugs.
- Do not clean the ear with cotton buds or your finger (NHS).
- According to the NHS, irritation of the ear canal can also be caused by water or by using earplugs. Keep the earplug clean, and do not pass it to another person.
- If there is pain, discharge, itching that does not pass or a sudden change in hearing, stop using it and see a doctor (NHS).
NIDCD recommends using earplugs or other protective devices during noisy activities, and moving away from the noise when it cannot be reduced.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about earplugs
Is there a difference between "ear plugs" and "earplugs"?
No. In Hebrew there are two everyday names for earplugs, and both mean the same products: foam, silicone, wax, earplugs with a filter and custom earplugs. You choose by the use, not by the name.
What is the difference between foam and silicone earplugs?
A foam earplug is squeezed, goes into the ear canal and expands inside it. A mouldable silicone earplug covers the opening of the canal and does not go in deep. There are also pre-shaped silicone earplugs in fixed sizes. With any ready-made earplug, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Can the same earplug be used for sleep and swimming?
With a ready-made earplug, check the manufacturer's instructions for which uses it is meant. A custom earplug is made for the main use you describe to us, so it is worth mentioning all the uses in the first conversation.
Can earplugs irritate the ear?
Yes. According to the NHS, irritation of the ear canal can also be caused by using earplugs. Keep your hands and earplugs clean, and if there is pain, discharge, itching that does not pass or a change in hearing, stop using them and see a doctor.
How do I know the earplug is the right size?
An earplug of the right size stays in place, does not press and does not come out by itself. If ready-made earplugs move, fall out or press even after you have tried different sizes, it is worth looking into a custom earplug.
Which earplugs do you make?
We make all types of custom earplugs, according to the impression of the ear and the use: for hearing aids, swimming, sleep and noise, earplugs with an acoustic filter for musicians, parties and concerts, and also for businesses and employees. For musicians who order a custom IEM from abroad, we also take the ear impressions.
Do I need to come to you for an impression?
No. We come to your home or workplace, take an impression, and the earplugs are sent to you by post. The service is nationwide, by appointment.
Please do not send sensitive medical information in a message. We go over the relevant details on the phone.
