For institutions and communities
Frequently asked questions from institution managers
The questions managers, social workers and heads of nursing ask us before arranging a hearing activity at an institution.
About the formats
What can be held at our institution?
A hearing check day, a combined check day that also covers existing hearing aids, hearing awareness talks, staff training (a care workshop, training for nursing staff or a troubleshooting day), guidance for families and caregivers, needs assessment and hearing aid fitting, care and service for hearing aids, and custom earplugs for groups. Everything is collected on the solutions for institutions page.
Where is it worth starting?
With what worries you most right now. If residents are not willing to talk about the subject, a talk. If there are many hearing aids that do not work, a combined day. If staff complain that they do not know what to do with the hearing aids, staff training.
Which settings is this suitable for?
Assisted living, nursing homes, care facilities, clubs and community centres. The format is built according to the type of institution and the population, in a planning call. Activities for institutions are available nationwide, by appointment.
Who comes on your behalf?
The team for the activity is set according to the need and agreed in advance. The language: Hebrew, Arabic, English, French, Russian, Spanish or Italian, with an interpreter when needed. The language of the session and the team for the activity are agreed in advance.
About preparation
How many staff members need to be allocated?
Not many. One contact person who coordinates the arrangements and is with us at the session, and a staff member who escorts residents who need help. For residents who find communication difficult, it is worth having a staff member who knows them sit with them.
What kind of space is needed?
For tests: a relatively quiet place with a table, chairs and a power socket, and an accessible waiting area. For a talk: a room where people can sit close to the speaker. The details are agreed in the planning call, and the preparations are also collected in the guide to organising a hearing day.
What do residents need to bring?
Those with a hearing aid: the hearing aid, the case, the charger or batteries. Those who use glasses: their glasses.
About consent and information
Who needs to consent?
Looking into a solution and further care are done by personal arrangement and according to the required consent and authorisation. At the initial contact stage there is no need to send personal medical information.
What is handed over after the test?
A summary or a document is handed over according to the type of test and the case. See also the privacy policy (in Hebrew).
About what happens afterwards
What happens with a resident who needs a hearing aid?
They get an explanation of the next step, and the follow-up is arranged separately, at the institution or at the family home. A hearing aid is fitted only through a suitable professional process and by personal decision, and the decision is made after an explanation.
And what about hearing aids that need repair?
As part of the activity at the institution: cleaning, filters, minor repairs and minor adjustments on site, depending on the hearing aid and the case; further treatment at a laboratory by arrangement. G-Sound provides service for hearing aids across the country. Depending on the service area, the type of hearing aid and the fault, a visit to the customer's home, collection, shipping or treatment at a laboratory can be arranged. Service options and cost are checked in advance for each case. To arrange several hearing aids together, see Laboratory service for institutions (in Hebrew).
What about a resident with a medical ear problem?
Pain, discharge, severe dizziness, sudden hearing loss or unusual symptoms are not handled as part of the service day, and are referred for a suitable medical check. If a sudden hearing loss has appeared, see a doctor without delay.

Terms and the personal proposal are given after the need has been clarified, according to the activity and the service requested.
Can an activity also be held at a community centre or a club?

What if only a small number of residents are interested?
That is fine. The scope of the activity is set in advance together with the institution.

Yes. Further sessions can be arranged as needed, for example a talk followed by a check day, or a combined day after staff training.
I am a staff member. What is expected of me on the activity day?
