Can't hear phone calls in Philips HearLink hearing aids

Calls only come through the phone, not the hearing aids? Checks for iPhone and Android, including Samsung (LE Audio / ASHA).

First

  1. Make sure the hearing aids are paired with the phone. If not, go to the guide HearLink not connecting to the app or phone.

iPhone

  1. Open Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices → Audio Routing → Call Audio. Choose Always Hearing Devices or Automatic.
  2. To speak through the hearing aids: triple-click the side button (or the Home button). Scroll to Mic Input and make sure it is on.
  3. On the same Hearing Devices screen, make sure Control Nearby Devices is on.
  4. To answer: short press on the button of either hearing aid, or answer normally on the phone. The call moves to the hearing aids by itself.
  5. If the hearing aids are also paired with an iPad or a computer, turn Bluetooth off there during the call.

Android

  1. (HearLink 50) HearLink 50 supports hands-free calls on Android phones with LE Audio as well.
  2. (HearLink 40 / 30) On older models, direct calls from Android need a phone that supports ASHA. With other phones you need the Philips AudioClip accessory.
  3. (HearLink 40 / 30) From the experience of an expert technician: all HearLink models support calls from Android, but some phones have firmware that doesn't support it. If calls don't come through, check your phone in the compatibility guide.
  4. Check in the compatibility guide whether your phone supports direct calls.
  5. Samsung Galaxy A55 / A56: if the phone gets stuck during a call, Philips recommends turning off LE Audio and using ASHA, if available.
  6. Samsung: Settings → Connections → Bluetooth → select the hearing aids → scroll down and change the protocol from LE to ASHA. Exact names may differ by software version.
  7. Turn Bluetooth off and on, and start the call again.
  8. To answer: short press on the button of either hearing aid, or answer normally on the phone.
