Hearing aids with a telecoil: which models, according to the manufacturers' documents

If you go to a synagogue, a lecture hall or a till with a hearing loop, the practical question is one: does your hearing aid have a telecoil? Here is what the manufacturers state.

In short: according to the manufacturers' documents, a telecoil (induction coil) appears in Philips HearLink 50 in both styles, miniRITE R and miniBTE R, and in Oticon Intent miniRITE, Real miniRITE R, More miniRITE R and Opn S BTE Plus Power. A model that is not on the list is not added until a source is found for it. Even when there is a telecoil, a suitable program sometimes has to be switched on in the hearing aid, so this is checked at the fitting.

Models to check with us

  • The T styles of Oticon Real and Jet PX, and Oticon Verit. The style names include the letter T, but on the pages we checked we did not find an explicit statement about a telecoil. We will check against the model's documents.
  • Oticon Own. According to Oticon, in some styles you can choose between Bluetooth and a telecoil. Which style you have, and what was ordered in it, is checked by model.
  • Any other model. Send us the exact name, and we will check before you go to the hall.

There is a telecoil. What else is needed?

  1. An active loop in the place. The coil picks up a signal only from a hearing loop connected to the sound system. Ask the venue whether there is a loop and whether it is working.
  2. A program in the hearing aid. Sometimes a telecoil program has to be set up or switched on. Ask for this at the fitting appointment.
  3. A real trial. It is best to try it in the place itself, and tell us what you heard so it can be adjusted later.

How hearing loops work, and what venues install: Hearing loops: what they are and how they work. Here we focus only on the question of which models, according to the manufacturer.

A telecoil at home, in front of the TV

A home loop connected to the TV is one way to hear it. Another is the manufacturer's TV adapter. More: Hearing aids and watching TV.
