Plugging in

  • At a wall socket: according to Oticon, use the original power supply (5.0V/1A).
  • You can also connect to a USB port, for example in a car or a computer, if it is USB 2.0 compliant and supplies at least 500mA.
  • On the desktop charger, a green light shows the charger is on and ready.

Placing the hearing aids and the lights

  • The right hearing aid goes in the slot marked red, the left in the slot marked blue.
  • While charging, the hearing aid light is orange. If it does not turn orange, take the hearing aid out and place it again.
  • When the hearing aid is fully charged, the light is green.
  • A hearing aid that has not been used for a long time: according to Oticon, charging can take up to 30 seconds to start.

SmartCharger: the built-in battery

  • According to Oticon, a full SmartCharger battery can fully charge a pair of hearing aids at least three times.
  • Before first use, fully charge the built-in battery, which takes up to four hours.
  • Battery lights: flashing orange, too low to charge; one orange, low; two, medium; three orange, good; three green, full.
  • Important: if the built-in battery is empty and the charger is not plugged in, hearing aids placed in it stay on and keep draining.

Switching a rechargeable hearing aid on and off

According to Oticon, switch on by pressing the button for about two seconds until the light is green, and switch off by pressing for about three seconds; the hearing aid plays four falling tones. A hearing aid without a button switches on only when you take it out of the charger, and switches off only when you place it in the charger.

Looking after the charger

  • Clean only with a soft, dry cloth. According to Oticon, never rinse the charger or put it in water or any other liquid.
  • Wipe dust out of the charging slots with a dry cloth, without water or cleaning products.
  • Store it in a dry place, at 15 to 35 degrees Celsius.
