Custom earmolds for behind-the-ear hearing aids

In short: A custom earmold is built to the measurement of your ear and carries sound from a behind-the-ear device into the canal. It is considered mainly when a stable fit is needed, when a ready-made dome does not stay in place, or when more power is needed. Material and shape are chosen for the ear and the device.

What an earmold does

With a behind-the-ear device, sound has to reach the canal. Some devices use a thin tube and a ready-made dome; others use a tube and a custom earmold. The earmold holds the device in place, directs the sound into the canal and follows the shape of your ear.

When a custom earmold is considered

  • The ready-made dome moves, comes out or is uncomfortable
  • More power is needed, so a precise fit matters
  • The canal shape does not suit a ready-made dome
  • The current earmold is cracked, has changed shape or no longer fits

Built to measure

We take a measurement of your ear, and the earmold is built to it. The G-Sound lab can build custom earmolds. Compatibility with your device model is checked in advance.

Earmold or earplug?

An earmold is part of the hearing aid. Custom earplugs for swimming, sleep or noise are a separate product: custom earplugs. More: in-the-ear hearing aids.
