A clear starting point in English
Moving to a new health system can make a hearing-aid decision feel more complicated. Begin with the hearing situations that matter, any assessment completed in Israel or abroad and whether you already use hearing aids.
G-Sound can explain the private service pathway in English and help identify the questions that still need answers. This page does not replace medical advice or official information from an HMO or government body.
Bring hearing records from abroad
If you have a recent audiogram, device report or fitting summary from another country, keep it available. The information may help the initial conversation, but an appropriate current assessment may still be needed before a recommendation or programming decision.
If you use an existing hearing aid, bring the exact make and model, charger or battery information and any accessories. Explain what works well and what has become difficult.
Understand the private and HMO routes
A private purchase is a direct commercial arrangement with the provider. An HMO route follows the eligibility, referral, provider and documentation rules that apply to the member. The two routes should be compared on the actual device, fitting, follow-up and terms offered.
Do not assume a private purchase will be reimbursed. Ask the HMO about current eligibility, prior approval, recognised providers and required documents before committing.
Discuss daily life in Israel
Consider work, Hebrew or English conversation, family calls, public transport, social settings, television and telephone use. If smartphone compatibility matters, have the exact phone model and operating-system version available.
If travel is difficult, a home appointment may be possible depending on area, need, scheduling and the service required. Confirm availability by phone.
